Getting Started with Veterans’ Education Benefits
Step 1: Visit www.gibill.va.gov
This is the official Department of Veterans Affairs Educational Benefits website. Here you'll be able to compare benefits and decide which is best for you. You can also call VA Education at 1-888-442-4551. Choose option 1 then 0 on the touch tone system. Once you decide you should apply using the electronic application through the Veterans' Online Application website.
Step 2: Apply to BC
Once you've applied to the college, you'll receive a Student Identification Number (SID). Obtaining your SID is required before we can begin a file for you.
Step 3: Collect documents
Be prepared to provide various documents including but not limited to:
- Your DD-214 (member-4 copy only)
- Math and English Assessment scores
- Transcript
- Kicker Documentation if applicable
- Certificate of Eligibility Letter
- Notice of Basic Eligibility (for CH 1606 only)
- VA disability documentation
Step 4: Visit Our Office in B-125M
We will need to have you fill out some paperwork and direct you towards the next steps based on your individual situation. We are located in Student Services, down the hall past the cashiers office.
Note: You need to certify your benefits each quarter.
